New Team Member: Ben Knapp, Director of Operations

Saratoga Joinery is pleased to announce the newest addition to our team, Ben Knapp! Ben is our Director of Shop Operations. Ben will oversee all shop and building operations as well as direct our organizational safety protocol.

Ben’s involvement with Saratoga Joinery started right at the beginning. He has been a Safety Coordinator volunteer on Wednesday nights since the day we opened, spending his time helping members with projects and ensuring everyone’s safety in the machine room. 

Ben has a deep passion for making, particularly with wood. He’s a self-taught woodworker with over 10 years of experience and is extremely excited to share his knowledge with the Saratoga Joinery community. Ben thinks of himself as a hybrid woodworker, choosing the best tool for the job, enjoying the process of making using both hand and power tools. He’s excited by new technologies becoming more widely available to the craft community.

Ben has worked in education technology for the last 17 years and is looking forward to using that knowledge to help shape the Joinery’s class offerings. Before that, he worked on creating online safety courses for General Electric. Ben graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a degree in Electronic Media Arts & Communications with a concentration in design. When he’s not making sawdust, Ben enjoys spending time outdoors mountain biking and hiking in the High Peaks region of New York.

We are so excited to have Ben join our staff and can’t wait to see the shop flourish under his leadership! Welcome, Ben!
