Saratoga Joinery is a community woodworking shop with a mission to make woodworking accessible to all.
Through classes and membership, Saratoga Joinery provides a safe, inclusive and collaborative space for makers with varied experience levels to create, connect, become inspired and expand their woodworking skills. Saratoga Joinery is a hub for education that empowers the community to fix and create instead of throwing out or buying new.
We are dedicated to creating a safe and comfortable workspace for all.
We are committed to providing a woodworking education for everyone.
We are determined to ensure every person (and machine) is treated with respect.
We are steadfast in our pledge to create a culture of inclusion and belonging.
We are passionate about cultivating a place for all people to gather and connect.
John Haller founded Saratoga Joinery in March of 2022. Before discovering his passion for woodworking, John spent decades founding software businesses. It was during the recent restoration of his historic Saratoga Springs home that he developed his appreciation for carpentry and woodworking.
Quickly falling in love with the craft, John attended a three-month intensive woodworking program in Rockport, Maine at the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship. During this time, he honed his craft and began to appreciate the tremendous impact of community gathering around a shared passion.
He emerged from the program determined to build a space with similar benefits for his community. Thus, Saratoga Joinery was formed.
