As our membership of makers has grown over the past four months, we’ve seen a trend of aspiring woodworkers wanting to start a project to work on independently but still wanting some support and having trouble figuring out where to start.
In response to this, we put our heads together and came up with a new program – a Project of the Month!
These projects are created in-house by one of our shop staff. Each project will have a different project lead. Here’s how it works:
1. Register to take part in the project. The timeline for the build is typically 6 weeks. Registration is free and just gives us a way to track who is participating. Once the group of participants is formed, we will assign an email address for each of you to communicate with each other, should you so choose. Upon registration, the plans will be sent to you digitally.
2. Come into the shop on your own time and start building at your own pace! All of our Safety Coordinators are familiar with the projects and can provide help along the way. If they can’t, they will point you in the direction of someone who can.
3. If you want some extra support, register for a free in-shop demonstration of the project build led by the project lead. These sessions will allow you to meet like-minded makers and ask questions about the project. Non-members are invited to join us for these sessions, but they still need to become members to use the shop.
